OUTCOME 3 GROUP DANCE OUTCOME DESCRIPTION The group dance focuses on expanding your technical and physical skills and expressive execution of movement vocabulary. We will also be concentrating on the safe and accurate execution of group movement sequences, phrases and technically complex movement sections. Alongside of learning, rehearsing and performing the choreography you must keep a journal to analyse these three processes as well as your own record of improvements and challenges of your dance technique. The expressive intention of this group dance choreographed by Cara Mitchell is Gaining Balance – Life on a Tightrope. The Beginning section Unbalanced. Unsure yet determined, the group will journey together to find Balance Phrases will be learnt, manipulated and developed by the choreographer to express our first responses to fear. The Development section In 3 parts, a) “You either follow or you lead”. Archetype of the Fool or the Hero, innocence and wonder beginning the quest. The decision to lead. b) “You gotta keep your balance or you fall into the gap”. Being tested, being challenged and pushed by external forces to push us off, we have to work hard and overcome to obtain what we want. c) “You can rock or you can leave”Confidence, strength from overcoming, balance obtained. The Phrases choreographed will express how we find our balance and master our own tightrope. The Resolution section celebrates our achievement. In staying true to our path we find inner strength and joy, this is where we enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Demonstrate safe use of technical and physical skills through undertaking regular and systematic dance training over time.
Correctly align body parts in movement and in stillness when executing the choreographed movement vocabulary.
Demonstrate an expressive performance of the group dance work reflecting knowledge of the expressive intention throughout the work.
Demonstrate movement memory of the choreography.
Perform safe, expressive and accurate variations of the elements of movement
Demonstrate spatial and group awareness and accurate and expressive execution of group formations and structures
Perform with empathy and appropriate timing in relation to the selected music.
Use of appropriate performance skills to convey the expressive intention.
